Orah Dee Clark papers, 1913-1962.

This collection contains three articles written by Miss Clark, personal correspondence, a biographical sketch written by Engen, German and Skule in 1957 to honor her as a pioneer teacher, and the manuscript "Atka Interlude" written by Clara Goss in 1913. Also, correspondence from Clarence L. Andrews dealing with the management of reindeer herds in Alaska.

Orah Dee Clark was a pioneer teacher who organized schools in Anchorage and the Matanuska Valley, served as the first superintendent of schools in Anchorage and taught in many villages throughout Alaska. A champion of native rights, she believed that native and white children should be integrated in school systems designed to foster individual growth.
